About CSTA NoVA
CSTA Northern Virginia was established in November 2018.
CSTA's NoVA chapter’s mission is to empower, engage and advocate for K-12 CS teachers in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties).

Chapter Officers
President - John Chapin
John is currently the computer science pathway lead at the Academies of Loudoun. He teaches AP CS to sophomores and Computer Science junior research which includes machine learning, HTML, CSS and Javascript as well as mobile app development using react native. John also is serving on the working group for the AI4K12.org initiative.
Vice President - Kamaljeet Sanghera
Dr. Sanghera Sanghera is the executive director of STEM Outreach and an associate professor in the Information Sciences and Technology (IST) Department, Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University. She is an active member of Northern Virginia Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). Sanghera has served as the Aspirations project co-lead of the executive committee of National Center of Women in Information Technology (NCWIT). She received the NCWIT Extension Services Award to implement systemic change to increase enrollment, retention, and graduation of women in technology and engineering undergraduate programs. Sanghera is also an active member of Students and Technology in Academia, Research and Service (STARS) program. Her focus is on developing opportunities for K-12 teachers’ professional development, offering engineering and technology related camps and conferences for K-12 students while creating a community of practice for like-minded people who wish to participate in and contribute to STEM initiatives.
Treasurer - Teresa Kelly
Terri teaches Computer Science at Bishop Ireton High School.
Secretary - Angela Fraser
Angie teaches a middle school Computer Programming elective within Loudoun County. Angie is also an active member of the Northern Virginia CSTA.
Webmaster and Board Member - Peggy Tyree
Board Member - Eva Anderson
Eva Anderson is a high school computer science teacher at Lake Braddock Secondary School in Fairfax County. She has experience teaching an introductory CS course, AP CS A, AP CS Principles, Advanced CS AB data structures, and Computer Systems, a senior-level, independent-study, project-based course. Eva sponsors the coding club at Lake Braddock as well as the Computer Science Honor Society. She was one of two Virginia educators to receive the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award in 2019. Eva served as an AP Exam Reader for the 2019 CS A Exam and for the 2017 CS Principles Exam. Her focus has been on expanding the computer science program at Lake Braddock while providing opportunities for her students to participate in coding competitions, perform service work, and attend local STEM events.
Board Member - Meaghan Martin
Since 2007, Meaghan has been teaching with Prince William County Schools. For ten years, she served as an elementary ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teacher. During this time, she focused on teaching language across all domains (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and content areas. Since the fall of 2017, Meaghan has been an Instructional Technology Coach (ITC) which has afforded her the opportunity to use technology as a tool to help teachers differentiate their instruction and bring rich language learning opportunities to our students. She looks forward to collaborating with teachers to integrate the computer science standards into our instruction.
